The Center for Art & Rehabilitative Energies, Inc. a non-profit private foundation located in Shellman, Georgia is pleased to present a solo exhibition of paintings by the renowned artist, William (Bill) Lopa. Paintings of movie stars, professional athletes and other noted celebrities, owned by a local collector, have been graciously placed on loan to The Center for public viewing. The Opening Reception is scheduled for May 7th beginning at 1:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome.
Bill Lopa’s art is a reflection of what he loves and finds most challenging and enjoyable. Working in acrylics, Lopa uses a ‘splatter’ technique where color is applied using a pallet knife. The fusion of bold colors and splatter technique captures the image and spirit of a subject in motion. Featured in art galleries across the country, Lopa has been commissioned to paint by the NBA, MLB, NFL and NCAA. Born in New Jersey, from the age of 15 art has been his life. Friends, family and neighbors commissioned work from him and his distinct impressionist style quickly caught on. He later used this gift to paint commissions ordered by Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Cal Ripken, Yogi Berra, Barbara Sinatra and Julia Ruth – to name a few. Over his career he has been named the Official Commemorative Artist of the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, the PGA Tour & the All-Star Game. Portraits of some of these noted individuals will be on view.
Lopa began studying painting at age 5 in art classes taught at the Nutley Art Academy. He later attended Montclair Art Academy and eventually received a BFA from William Paterson College in Wayne, New Jersey. Educators and parents of would be artist take note. Talent along with opportunity, hard work, supportive family and friends is a rewarding career.
